Gotta say – it was a success. I hate being pessimistic but I didn’t expect it to be this fun! The tickets were oversold (we only printed a 100 initially but we later printed an extra 30 or so… so including performers/committeememberhelpers/emcees, there were approximately 140-150 people there that night! Major wowness =)
Credits to Elvi for a great night.
It poured cats’n'dogs right before the event started. Rain was so heavy and drivers were so reckless that on my way to Bangsar with Mirness to collect the bbqpit and the barstool, we saw a nasty crash. Very unethical me took a shot of it as we drove by.

By six or so, the rain had more or less resided and by then Danielandpartner and Kok Wui had already started on the barbecuing, the bands were practicing, the food was being arranged and all was set.

We got May and Murli to emcee the event and they were like, to quote Elvi, “David and Goliath” (Lee, 2007).

When an appropriate number of people were there, we started… it was approximately 7pm. Music on the PASystem and food (lots of food!) followed before our first performance of the night (of which I did not have any photos because I was busy serving food) – Victoria and OonYow! Their voices were beautiful! Especially Vic’s! *swoons in remembrance* In Kevin’s words, “very american idol-ish” (Soo, 2007).

Then we had our first round of lucky draw. Irene, an ex-ADPian, drew number 3
*drumroll*
She won KokWui as a slave for the night… poor dear (I sure as hell don’t mean KokWui).

After more food, we had our next performers, Kevin and Mary who performed a series of Joshua Radin covers (Ilike!).. beautifully if I might add. They dedicated their first song “Only You” to MsWinnee, CFP’s favourite lecturer, who will be leaving after this semester
.

Afterwhich, they had a guest star – Ren! Together, they performed Ivy’s “Edge of the Ocean” and dedicated it to Elvi. Schweet ya? They sounded so good together!

They were quickly followed by KingCheese@HopelessRomantic who performed “Love Potato Always” in dedication to his girlfriend (doh!), Stephanie (a very poppy, catchy self-written ditty.. cheesy, but sweet. typically KingCheese), followed by “The First Time” (a song off his self-released album) and then with some help from Kevin, a Foo Fighters cover.

We had our next lucky draw and the lucky winner was Vivienne, a fellow BPsycho, who got away with Tower Records vouchers worth RM20.
Next up was a performance by The Brotherhood of the Pink Ribbon, consisting of Wayne, Shaun and Bryan. They performed a few covers and Wayne can definitely sing. Very well in fact. They were very good!

While most of the crowd stayed indoors to listen to the croonings, a handful of people were outside bbqing and having their own fun. Kok Wui’s brand of fun is.. well…

We had another round of lucky draw and this time a girl from the Business Dept walked away with our grandest prize of all! a TopShop/TopMan/DorothyPerkins/MissSelfridge gift voucher worth RM50!!!!!! *stamps foot in frustration
*
We had games, up next. Twister and human foosball. Humanfoosball was fun! The sort we should have again!

The whole shindig ended at approximately 10 and by the time we cleaned up and waited for the last of the lot to leave, it was already 11.
Honestly, the whole event would not have been a success if not for the council members who pulled their weight and their friends who chipped in to help. Natalie (Daniel’s girlfriend) supplied us the bulk of the skewers, pits and helped out with the initial barbecueing, JonSern took over later and helped clean up, XiuLi who wasn’t on the ‘Helpers List’ that night shared the tasks of distributing food, the Mirness who burnt the BBQMixCDs for the night and helped me and Elvi at her aunt’s place (our caterer for the night) in the afternoon cutting up potatoes, cucumbers, lettuce etc etc… yeah, would not have been a success without the help of everyone! The performers were splendid – BPsycho people aren’t as nerdy and unfun! We can let loose too!
This is the first of many events. =)
I shall leave you with more photos to feast your eyes on, toodles!

Note:
1. The moment of the night? Kok Wui humping Dr. Goh on stage….. it was a sight to behold! Disturbing, yet horrifyingly
funny!!
2.I was ready to murder the guy manning the soundsystem *grr* He kept trying to change to his self-burnt HipHop/RNBCD! Cis, bedebah! Apparently he didn’t like our songs… and kept switching tracks!
